About Niigata

The city of Niigata lies on about the same latitude as Tianjin, Lisbon and San Francisco. Located 250 km north-northwest of Tokyo, Niigata City is two hours away from the capital by bullet train on the Joetsu Shinkansen line. Niigata City has a population of 810,000 and an area of 726.1 km2. It also has a rich natural environment with many bodies of water, including the Sea of Japan, the Shinano River, the Agano River, lagoons and wetlands. The fertile fields of the vast Echigo Plain produce a multitude of rice-based products and agricultural produce in addition to making Niigata Japan's number one producer of tulips and various other flowers.

Niigata City's transportation infrastructure is equipped with an international airport and seaport, high-speed bullet train, and a network of highways. With both a sound commercial base and the largest area of rice-fields in all of Japan, Niigata city's unique characteristics and capabilities combine to make it a distinctly attractive city.

Details are available at http://www.city.niigata.jp/e_page/e_index.html. Chinese, Korean and Russian web pages are also available from the menu of the top English page.

(1)   Narita International Airport

The convenient way to get to Niigata from Narita International Airport is to use a bullet train(Shinkansen). However, as Shinkansens depart only from Tokyo Station, you first get there. The Narita Express(N’EX) is most convenient for you to move from Narita International Airport to Tokyo Station. Be sure to get off at Tokyo Station, as N’EX may go farther beyond Tokyo Station.

(about 1 hour, 2,940yen)

(see web site http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/index.html)

From Tokyo Station you take Joetsu-Shinkansen to get to Niigata Station. They are several  lines of Shinkansen in Tokyo Station. Be sure to take "Joetsu-Shinkansen".

(about 1 hours 40minutes by the fastest ones, about 2 hours by others. Fare is  10,270yen. Fares are subject to seasons)

We are sorry, but there is no connection flights from Narita International Airport to Niigata International Airport.

 (2) Niigata International Airport (IATA Airport Code: KIJ)
It is really convenient to get to
Niigata via Niigata International Airport from abroad.
There are two way to get to Niigata Station.
Taxi (20 minutes, 2,500yen, approximately)
Airport bus (25 minutes, 400yen, departing synchronized with an arrival of airplane). You should buy a bus ticket in advance from a ticketing machine near the bus stop.
You can also get directly to the conference venue from Niigata International airport by the following transportation;
Taxi (20 minutes, 2,500yen, approximately)

3.   From Niigata Station to the conference venue

Bandai Exit of JR Niigata Station is the most convenient exit to the conference venue. We recommend to take this exit.

Taxis

You can find a taxi stand a little bit to your left hand side just when you leave the Bandai Exit.

Taxi is convenient for you to move from Niigata Station to Toki Messe Convention Center.

(about 5 minutes, 900yen)

Buses

You can also find a bus terminal to your left hand side of the Bandai Exit.

Take a bus arriving at No.5 track. Buses depart every 20 minutes and it takes around 10 minutes to the conference venue.

It costs you 200 yen.

NOTE: Taxis may not and buses do not accept credit cards. You should prepare necessary amount of cash. The best way to reach your destination without mistake is to print out this page and show the following to a bus or taxi driver pointing out the red part of the map. He/she will have pleasure to help you. Gratuity is not our custom.
