ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to forward SC 29 N 224 to ITTF for processing as International Standard ISO/IEC 10918-1.

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to forward SC 29 N 312, N 313, and N 314 to ITTF for processing as International Standards ISO/IEC 11172-1, ISO/IEC 11172-2, ISO/IEC 11172-3, respectively following completion of editorial amendments of SC 29 N 312, N 313 and N 314 by SC 29/WG 11's MPEG-1 Editing Committee.

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 resolves to subdivide SC 29 Project 1.29.05 (MPEG) into the following two parts:

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 directs the Convener of SC 29/WG 12 to designate the next version of its MHEG specification as a Working Draft (WD).

Resolution 92-11/No. 6: Termination of SC 29 Project 1.29.08

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 resolves to terminate SC 29 Project 1.29.08 (Coded Representation of Audio Information) and instructs its Secretariat to communicate this fact to JTC 1 for its review and comment.

Resolution 92-11/No. 7 : Identification of Additional Standard Multimedia Components

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to circulate SC 29 N 290 Rev. for comment, within SC 29, for the purpose of obtaining National Body input concerning the identification of possible additional standard multimedia components, and certain issues associated with the standardization of these components.

Resolution 92-11/No. 8 : Liaison to JTC 1/SC 24 concerning PREMO

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to forward SC 29 N 316 Rev. to SC 24 (with a copy to the JTC 1 Secretariat), expressing SC 29's concern over what appears to be possible overlap between the PREMO NP and SC 29's MHEG activity.

Resolution 92-11/No. 9 : Liaison to CCITT Study Group XVIII concerning Network Support

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to forward to CCITT SG XVIII its document SC 29 N 297 Rev. concerning requirements for network support for broadband multimedia services.

Resolution 92-11/No. 10 : Support for JTAG2

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 notes the value which exists within ISO/IEC JTAG2 for effective resolution of possible conflicts which may arise from time to time among the various ISO and IEC committees involved with standardization in the area of image technology, and encourages SC 29 delegates to communicate these values to their NBs and also encourages its Working Groups to communicate to SC 29/JTAG2 Members all relevant information that might be useful to identify those cases where conflicts might arise.

Resolution 92-11/No. 11 : Request for Presentation Concerning PREMO

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 requests the Convener of its WG 12 to invite Experts from ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 24/WG 6 to present details of the PREMO work for consideration by the WG.

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 requests the Conveners of its WG 9, WG 10 and WG 1l to invite Experts from ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 24/WG 7 to present details of ISO/IEC DIS 12087 (IPI) for consideration by the WGs.

Resolution 92-11/No. 13 : Patent Matter Relating to ISO/IEC 11172-3

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to transmit SC 29 N 315 Rev, concerning patent matters relating to ISO/IEC 11172-3, to ITTF for assessment.

Resolution 92-11/No. 14 : Review of the Technical Report on Multimedia/Hypermedia

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to forward N 308 "Working Draft of the Technical Report on Multimedia and Hypermedia Model and Framework", the source of which is ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 18/WG 1, to SC 29's National Bodies for comment before 1993 January 30th, by fax with a copy directly to the Convener of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 18/WG 1 in time for consideration at the 1993 February 8-12 meeting of SC 18/WG 1.

Resolution 92-11/No. 15 : Conformity Assessment Activities

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 notes the content of SC 29 N 245, and instructs its Secretariat to prepare a document describing the nature and extent of SC 29's activities relating to conformity assessment, and to forward this document to the JTC 1 Secretariat.

Resolution 92-1l/No. 16 : Copyright Notices for Joint/Common ISO/IEC-CCITT Documents

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to obtain guidance from ITTF concerning procedures for including copyright notices in ISO/IEC-CCITT documents containing joint text and in ISO/IEC-CCITT common documents.

Resolution 92-11/No. 17 : Request for Guidance Concerning Press Releases

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to obtain guidance from the JTC 1 Secretariat concerning procedures for developing and distributing press releases for its activities, including those of its Working Groups and Working Group Subgroups.

Resolution 92-11/No. 18 : Project Descriptions

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 directs the Conveners of all its Working Groups to revise their respective project descriptions contained in SC 29 N 203, and instructs its Secretariat to circulate these revised descriptions within SC 29 for its review and comment.

Resolution 92-11/No. 19 : Title, Scope, and Programme of Work for SC 29

Following revision and SC 29 review of the project descriptions contained in SC 29 N 203, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to forward to JTC 1, for its review and comment, a new statement of the Title, Scope, and Programme of Work of SC 29, together with project descriptions for each of the projects identified within this Programme of Work.

Resolution 92-11/No. 20 : Terms of Reference for SC 29 Working Groups

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 directs the Conveners of its Working Groups, respectively, to develop Terms of Reference for their groups, containing the Title, Scope and Programme of Work of each such group.

Resolution 92-11/No. 21 : Format of Management Reports

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 requests the UK National Body to undertake a review of SC 29 N 262 (SC 29 Secretariat Report presented at the Ottawa meeting) along with its own draft proposal of N 284, and to make recommendations for modifying the format and content of future Management and Secretariat reports, and also recommendations for how this can be updated and maintained on a regular basis.

Recommendations will be made in concert with the Secretariat and reviewed by the National Bodies, for the purpose of creating a standard format for these documents.

Resolution 92-11/No. 22 : Development of Press Release for MHEG

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 directs the Convener of WG 12, in conjunction with the SC 29 Chairman and its Secretariat, to develop a press release describing the main concepts of the future MHEG standard.

Resolution 92-11/No. 24 : Hand Delivery of National Body Contributions to SC 29 Working Groups

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 notes the difficulty which some of its Working Groups have experienced with respect to the receipt of National Body contributions via "normal" distribution channels, and authorizes its Working Groups to accept such contributions from the respective National Body Heads of Delegation.

Resolution 92-11/No. 25 : SC 29 Meeting Schedule

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 adopts the long range (five-year) meeting schedule of SC 29 and its Working Groups contained in SC 29 N 305 Rev.

Resolution 92-11/No. 26 : Acceptance of U.S. Offer to Host 1995 Meeting of SC 29

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 gratefully accepts the kind offer of the U.S. National Body to host, in the United States, the meeting of SC 29 which is currently planned for 1995 November.

Resolution 92-11/No. 27 : Appointment of Mr. Eric Hamilton as Convener of WG 10

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 gratefully accepts the U.S. National Body's nomination of Mr. Eric Hamilton as Convener of its WG 10, and appoints him to this position.

Resolution 92-11/No. 28: Appointment of MPEG/DSM Rapporteur

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 appoints Mr. Kogure as rapporteur of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/WG 11 Subgroup DSM.

Resolution 92-11/No. 29 : Strategic Planning Rapporteur

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 notes the contents of SC 29 N 244, and nominates Mr. Fritz Whittington (Texas Instruments, USA) as its Strategic Planning Rapporteur and instructs its Secretariat to communicate the fact of this appointment to the JTC 1 Secretariat.

Resolution 92-11/No. 30 : Appointment of Liaison to ISO/TC 36

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 notes the potential for application within ISO/TC 36 (Cinematography) of various of the standards under development within SC 29, and appoints Mr. Jim Williams (Hughes Aircraft Company, USA) as its liaison to that body.

Resolution 92-11/No. 31 : Establishment of an ad hoc group on meetings

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 resolves to establish an ad hoc group on meetings, long-range scheduling, and procedures for the purpose of formulating recommendations to SC 29 in this area; appoints Dr. Thomas Casey (U.K.) as the rapporteur for this group; and directs the group to distribute its recommendations to SC 29 no later than 1993 August 31 so that these recommendations can be considered at SC 29's Plenary Meeting planned for 1993 November in Korea.

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 notes the contents of SC 29 Resolutions 91-11/No. 25 and No. 26, and both directs its Conveners, and instructs its Secretariat to comply with the contents of these Resolutions.

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to complete the NP Forms and to forward them to JTC 1 for initiating NP ballots on each of the following items :

* Hierarchical Lossy/Lossless Compression of 5-D Images with 1-16 bpp

* Next Generation Lossless Compression of Continuous-tone Still Images

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 resolves to conduct its next Plenary Meeting during a three day period beginning on the Saturday following the meetings of its Working Groups 1993 November 6, 7 and 8.

Resolution 92-11/No. 36 : Multimedia/Hypermedia Workshop

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to forward to JTC 1 for consideration at their next Plenary the comments it received to its request for Proposal for a Multimedia/Hypermedia Workshop.

The purpose of this action is to indicate to JTC 1 the strong sentiments among the member bodies about the need for a JTC 1 sponsored meeting of Multimedia/Hypermedia experts to discuss common issues, problems and possible concerns about the standardization work under current development.

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 expresses its sincere thanks to Mr. Bernard Trocherie, Project Editor for Projects 1.29.01 and 1.29.02, for his excellent work in producing ISO/IEC 9281-1 and ISO/IEC 9281-2 and ISO 9282-1 and ISO/IEC 9282-2.

Resolution 92-11/No. 37B : Appreciation to Mr. Gregory Wallace.

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Gregory Wallace for his excellent work as Convener of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/WG 10, and wishes him continued success in the future.

Resolution 92-11/No. 37C : Appreciation to the Drafting Committee

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 wishes to thank the Members of the Drafting Committee for their diligent efforts in assisting the Chairman and Secretariat.

Resolution 92-11/No. 37D : Appreciation to the National Body of Canada

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 expresses its sincere appreciation to the Standards Council of Canada, the Canadian Advisory Committee for SC 29 and to Bell-Northern Research Ltd., who contributed to the Third Plenary Meeting of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29, for their outstanding support and splendid hospitality during this Meeting.

Although 10 National Bodies were present throughout the Meetings, the Korean National Body was obliged to leave before the Approval of the Resolutions had begun. The Italian National Body was also obliged to leave before the approval of Resolution 92-11/No. 35.
