1996-10-31, and that work on achieving optimal solutions be completed
before 1996-09-01 and approved by WG 12 by 1996-10-31.

SC 29 approves the following modifications to its current Programme of Work, and instructs its Secretariat
to submit them to JTC 1 for endorsement:

Resolution 96-07/No.3 NP: JPEG 2000 image coding system
SC 29 approves the NP, JPEG 2000 image coding system, as proposed in SC 29 N 1677, and instructs its Secretariat to submit the NP to JTC 1 for balloting.
If the ballot meets criteria, SC 29 authorizes WG 1 to prepare a Disposition of Comments report and submit it
to JTC 1 via the SC 29 Secretariat.

SC 29 instructs WG 11 to prepare the Disposition

and also prepare a recommendation to SC 29 on the further course of action.

ISO/IEC JTAG 2 Technology Matrix Parts 1 and 2 to the JTAG 2 Secretariat by 1996-11-30.

Resolution 96-07/No.10 SC 29 Standing Documents (SDs)
1. SC 29 approves its Standing Documents (SDs), SC 29 N 1649, N 1651 - N 1654 and N 1656 - N 1660, as updated during this plenary meeting, and also approves the new SD 11, P- and O-Members, as in SC 29 N 1680.
2. SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to report the status of its P-members' participation to ISO/IEC ITTF in
accordance with subclause 3.1.3 of the JTC 1 Directives.

Resolution 96-07/No.11 SC 29 Web and FTP
1. SC 29 approves the establishment of the
SC 29 ftp and Web sites, and also approves its proposed Web design as in SC 29 N 1682:

2. SC 29 approves the protection of the SC
29 Web and ftp sites with passwords.

4. SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to place
compressed copies of SC 29 documents on the SC 29 ftp site (directory:
/jtc1sc29/sc29docs/).
5. SC 29 terminates the publication of its Standing Documents (SDs) as of 1996-07-18, and instructs its Secretariat to transfer all the information on the current SDs to the SC 29 Web, update them as appropriate, and distribute its HTML files as SC 29 documents every nine months (before each plenary meeting).

Resolution 96-07/No.12 SC 29 Electronic Document Distribution
1. SC 29 approves the change in the distribution
of SC 29 documents from floppy diskettes to the SC 29 ftp as of
1996-07-18, and provide SC 29 members paper copies and/or electronic
copies on floppy diskettes on request.
2. SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to notify
its members and officers on the SC 29 mailing list of newly available
documents by E-mail.
3. SC 29 encourages all authors to provide its Secretariat documents in electronic form, preferably in Microsoft Word version 6.0, HTML or ASCII text formats, and instructs its Secretariat to convert documents only available in paper form into electronic as much as possible.
4. SC 29 authorizes the SC 29 Secretariat to represent SC 29 at the JTC 1/Ad Hoc Group on the Implementation of IT meeting, 1996-09-30/10-02, London, UK, and approves the participation of its Secretariat in the ISO Web page pilot project.

Resolution 96-07/No.13 Release of Annex F to ISO/IEC 10918-3
SC 29 instructs its Secretariat to take appropriate
action, consulting with the ISO/IEC ITTF, to allow the free use
of Annex F of ISO/IEC 10918-3, SPIFF file specification,
e.g. putting on publicly accessible media, such as Web and ftp sites.

Resolution 96-07/No.14 Liaison with ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 6
1. SC 29 approves the establishment of a liaison
with ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 6 as proposed in SC 29 N 1692, and instructs
its Secretariat to take appropriate action to establish the liaison.
2. SC 29 appoints Mr. John Kwok, UK, as a liaison representative to SC 6.

SC 29 approves the establishment of a category C liaison between the Asian-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and WG 11 (instead of category A as requested), and instructs its Secretariat to take appropriate action to establish the liaison.

action to establish the liaison.

1. SC 29 approves the establishment of a category

instructs its Secretariat to take appropriate action to establish
the liaison.
