Delegates List
In accordance with subclause 7.7.5 of the JTC 1 Directives, each SC 29 member shall send the SC 29 Secretariat and the host contact a Delegates list showing the names and employers of their representatives and also the name of the head of delegation by 1997-06-13.

Registration
Each delegate/representative is requested to register at the SC 29 Secretariat and the host contact by 1997-06-13.

Contributions
In accordance with subclause 7.8.1 of the JTC 1 Directives, the SC 29 members are requested to submit their contributions to the plenary meeting to the Secretariat by 1997-06-13.

Logistical Information

How to get to DIN

from Tegel Airport:

(1) A taxi will cost approximately DM 40,- and it takes about 30 minutes.

(2) Public transport from Tegel Airport to DIN will take you about 30 minutes.

The bus runs into the city on a fixed route at DM 3,90 ("Normalticket")

Please take bus X9 until "Budapester Str.".

(3) The nearest underground is "Wittenbergplatz", one stop from "Zoologischer Garten"

However, we recommend to take a taxi or the bus.

General Information

Local Climate
Much like the UK, the summers are warm but the winters are cold and rain fall is possible all year round.

Opening Hours
Opening hours vary but in general, shops open some time between 8 and 9am until 8pm on Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 2pm on Sadurdays.

Making a call from Berlin
Telephone kiosks accept phone cards and calls can also be made from some post offices. Most phone boxes can make international calls and will often have instructions in English. Phone cards are available at any newspaper kiosk for DM 12,-- 20,-- or 50,-- value.

Something to Drink
The national drink is beer and a local speciality worth a try is Berliner Weisse mit Schuss which is beer with a dash of something, such as raspberry syrup. German wine, which is famous world-wide, is also worth trying.

Money Matters

Currency
The unit of currency in Germany is the Deutschmark (DM), and it is divided into 100 pfennigs (Pf). Notes come in denominations of DM 1.000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5. Coins are in denominations of DM 5,2 and 1, and 50, 10, 5, 2 and 1 phennigs.

Exchange Information
Travellers cheques can be changed at hotels, post offices, railway stations and travel bureaux and Eurocheques up to a value of DM400 in building societies, banks and post offices.

Credit Card Information
All major credit cards are accepted by 60% of all shops, restaurants and hotels.

Tipping
There will be a service charge on hotel bills and taxi-drivers, hairdressers and cloak-room attendants usually expect a tip. In restaurants, the bill is usually rounded up to the nearest figure with a 10% service charge already included.
