National bodies and Liaison organizations present at this plenary: Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, China, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Korea (Republic of), Norway, South Africa, UK, USA, Ecma International, and XML Guild

Resolution 1: Joint Maintenance Procedures with OASIS for ISO/IEC 26300

a) SC 34 recommends that JTC 1 adopt the Memorandum of Principles between OASIS and ISO/IEC JTC 1 on Maintenance of Open Document Format Standard contained in Document N 1148 and instructs its Secretariat to send it to JTC 1.

b) SC 34 approves the Statement of Detailed Maintenance Processes and Procedures for Open Document Format between OASIS and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34 (Pursuant to Memorandum of Principles between OASIS and JTC 1) contained in Document N 1149 and instructs its Secretariat to send it to JTC 1 for endorsement.

c) SC 34 instructs its Secretariat to forward the introductory text contained in Document N 1186 to JTC 1 together with N 1148 and N 1149.

Resolution 2-a: Establishment of Ad Hoc Group 3 on Maintenance of ISO/IEC 26300

SC 34 establishes its ad hoc group on Maintenance of ISO/IEC 26300 with the following terms of reference:

- to develop a long term plan for maintenance of ISO/IEC 26300 in coordination with OASIS and to present the proposed plan and any other recommendations to the SC 34 Plenary following the next JTC 1 Plenary

- to coordinate all activities relating to the maintenance of ISO/IEC 26300 within SC 34, according to whatever detailed procedures OASIS and JTC 1 may agree, until such time as a long term plan is ready to be implemented, when this Ad Hoc Group would be dissolved.

SC 34 appoints Mr. Francis Cave (GB) as the Convener of this ad hoc group.

Resolution 2-b: Participation of SC 34 member bodies in ODF maintenance

SC 34 requests the Convenor of the Ad Hoc Group on ODF maintenance to prepare a detailed statement to SC 34 members that explains the options for SC 34 member participation in the maintenance of ISO/IEC 26300:2006 for review by SC 34 members in advance of the next Plenary in Seattle, USA, September 2009.

Resolution 3: Progression of Project for ISO/IEC 19757-1, Document Schema Definition Languages (DSDL) - Part 1: Overview

SC 34 approves that a change of status of ISO/IEC 19757-1 to become a Technical Report of Type 3. Further SC 34 instructs its Secretariat to initiate a 3-month PDTR ballot when the text is submitted by Project editor.

Resolution 4: Project Subdivision for ISO/IEC 19757-11, Document Schema Definition Languages (DSDL) - Part 11: Schema Association

SC 34 creates a project subdivision for ISO/IEC 19757-11 per Document N 1180 and instructs its Secretariat to submit this subdivision to JTC 1 for endorsement.

Resolution 5: Liaison Statement to W3C

SC 34 approves the following Liaison Statement and instructs its Secretariat to forward it to W3C.

It is SC 34's intention to use the processing instruction target name token "xml-model" in Part 11 of ISO/IEC 19757 (DSDL). SC 34 requests that the W3C reserve this name token in this context.

Resolution 6: Project Subdivision for Amendment 1 to ISO/IEC 19757-2: 2008, Document Schema Definition Languages (DSDL) -- Part 2: Regular-grammar-based validation -- RELAX NG

SC 34 creates a project subdivision for Amendment 1 to ISO/IEC 19757-2 per Document N 1181 and instructs its Secretariat to submit this subdivision to JTC 1 for endorsement.
