Report of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34/WG 4 to the SC 34 Plenary Meeting, Seattle, Washington, USA, 2009-09-17

After the Prague plenary meeting, WG4 has had bi-weekly phone conferences and one F2F meeting in Copenhagen.

WG4 developed DCORs for all parts of 29500, and have created FPDAMs for 29500-1 and 29500-4. They were developed in reply to DRs from member bodies and liaisons. The ballot due date is November the 4th this year for the DCORs and December the 4th for the FPDAMs.

The statistics of the WG4 defect reports are available at:

http://www.itscj.ipsj.or.jp/sc34/wg4/statistics/DefectReportsOn29500.html

About 300 defect reports have been submitted, but WG4 has closed more than 200 already. Thanks to the fruitful discussions in the Seattle meeting, WG4 has closed more soon.

WG4 plans to create more amendments and CORs in reply to defect reports, but WG4 will propose project subdivions in the next plenary rather than this plenary meeting.

There was a new work item proposal from Switzerland about technical differences between ECMA-376:2006 and ISO/IEC 29500:2008. The ballot closed and passed, but there are two problems. First, there are no project editors. Second, although the NWIP is a proposal for an amendment, the proposed content is non-normative.

WG4 will have a F2F meeting in Paris from December 1 to 3, but will have 4 phone conferences before that meeting. Active participation from MBS is very welcome.
